RichardBEERRobert Bourne (Dixie) 07/01/1910 to 13/11/1965 With pride I write this tribute to my Dad on the 50th anniversary of his passing. A kind, gentle and generous man, but also brave, when called upon to do his duty in the Second World War. Served as a radio operator and loader with The Royal Armored Corps and was captured in Africa in The Battle for Tobruk and reported missing in action on the 27th December 1941. A P.O.W of the Germans in Stalag 344 until rescued by the Americans. All dad wanted to do was his job in the post office and play football and cricket for Torquay. He passed away suddenly on Remembrance weekend 1965, when I was just 14 years old. Life for me and my precious Mum, known as Nell, would never be the same again - he was so loved. Mum and Dad were looking forward to retirement which never came, but was so much deserved. Nell passed away on the 17th October 1983 aged 69. "SIMPLY THE BEST" Still so missed, but always with me in my heart. Your loving daughter Angela.
